Changing Room Project:

The Changing Room project is aimed at ensuring lack of access to sports clothing or equipment is not a barrier to participating for young people. Secondary to that, is reducing the environmental impact that sports equipment production has on the planet and provide an effective way to encourage recycling preloved items.

This freecycle like initiative, sees a number of collection bins distributed across the City with regular collections made, for sports clothing, kit and equipment from children and young people. With partnership from schools to grassroots football clubs, workplaces, leisure centres, retail parks and other community based venues, accommodating a Changing Room branded bin.

Doations are washed and sorted, and redistributed at regular intervals alongside community food share events in key areas of the City, to ensure they reach the families who will benefit most. This project has been created and sustained with funding from the National League Trust.

If your business/venue would like to host a bin for donations, please contact inclusion@yorkcityfcfoundation.co.uk

Happy Healthy Holidays:

As part of our commitment to ensure that cost is not a barrier to attendance and tackling food poverty, especially holiday hunger, we offer fully funded Happy Healthy Holidays football fun courses over the longer school holiday periods.

We have been delivering this programme in various guises since 2017, but the introduction of the Government’s Holiday Activity and Food funding in 2022, has enabled us to broaden the offer. The holiday activities and food (HAF) programme provides healthy meals, enriching activities, and free childcare places to children from low-income families, benefiting their health, wellbeing and learning during winter, Easter, and summer holidays.

The Foundation supplement the funding through fundraising events such as the York Charity Sleepout, so we can support as many families who would like our support.
