Women & Girls

City Wildcats:

Wildcats is a National FA initiative supported by Weetabix, offering non-competitive football for girls who want to give it a go for the very first time or want to play with other girls their own age. Most importantly, Wildcats is all about having loads of fun and meeting new amazing friends.

Similar to City Kickers and Juniors, sessions are designed to get girls active, running around and playing lots of games, and each week is themed for girls to learn and develop new skills.

City Wildcats is for ages 5-12, running 10.30-11.30 every Saturday during term time at York Sport Village.

York City Foundation’s Female Programme:

At York City Foundation, we are not just running football sessions — we are building confidence, creating opportunities, and shaping futures.

Our Girls Player Pathway supports players aged 4–16 and open age, with one clear mission:

To help every girl become the very best version of herself — on and off the pitch.

Yes, we develop footballers, but more importantly, we develop resilient, confident, empowered young women- every session is designed with care, purpose, and progression. There is a clear journey. A clear structure. A clear belief that every girl deserves to be their personal best and the chance to thrive.

We believe girls deserve: Equal opportunity, high standards, clear progression, positive role models, and a safe, inspiring environment.

This pathway isn’t just about producing footballers. It’s about producing confident young women who back themselves in every area of life.

From first kick… to senior football. From nervous beginner… to fearless competitor.

This is more than football. This is York City Foundation Girls Pathway.

If you want to be part of something bigger — we’re ready for you.

City Girls Development Centre (Ages 8–16):

For players excelling in City Wildcats or ate their grassroots club and ready for the next challenge.

This is where focus sharpens, training becomes more detailed and expectations rise.

Players follow a structured development plan aligned to our full pathway, nurturing those who have the potential to move into our ETC or Talent Academy programmes. This is about stretching comfort zones, raising standards, and developing belief.

Sessions run at the LNER Community Stadium for u9s/10s from 6-7:30pm and u11s/12s from 7:30pm – 9:00pm every Monday during term time.

Sessions for u13s, u14s and u16s take place from 7:30pm – 9:00pm every Thursday at Askham Bryan College during term time.

Emerging Talent Centre (ETC):

Our ETC bridges the gap between our City Girls Development Centre and Talent Academy.

Training follows a clear syllabus with defined themes and focuses, ensuring consistent, meaningful progression. Players train once per week in an environment that challenges them technically, tactically, physically and mentally.

The aim - to develop the whole player not just the footballer. This is where ambition grows.

Our ETC squads train Monday’s at the LNER Communtiy Stadium with u9s and u9s/u10s from 6-7pm and u11s and u12s from 7:30-9pm.

Talent Academy:

The final stage of York City Foundation’s female youth pathway.

Here, the commitment rises. The standards rise. The opportunities rise.

Our Talent Academy players: train twice per week, compete in the Junior Premier League, follow a detailed syllabus, and develop through additional workshops and qualifications.

We go beyond football by offering: first Aid courses, self-development workshops, and personal growth opportunities. We don’t just want better players: we want confident leaders, role models, and future changemakers.

This is where potential turns into performance, with weekly training Wednesday and Thursdays: U12/U13 – 5:30–7:00pm and U14/U16 – 6:00–8:00pm, and Saturday morning game days.
